Topeka Citizens' Academy Ambassadors
Citizens' Academy
Participants in the Topeka Police Department Citizens' Police Academy are exposed to the problems and challenges faced by law enforcement and will learn how their police department meets those challenges. Participants will learn about various aspects of the Department including the Uniform and Investigative Divisions, narcotics enforcement, gangs, bomb disposal, crime scene investigation, school programs and much more!

The Spring Class of 2010 is currently forming.  Deadline for applications is March 19.   The Fall 2010 Academy will begin forming this summer.

Spring Academy participants will attend class sessions Thursday evenings each week starting March 25 through June 10.  Also part of the Academy is an optional eight-hour Saturday session covering emergency driving and use of force (shoot/don't shoot), which will give the participants a "hands-on" experience in these areas.  Academy participants will graduate with a certificate of attendance on June 10.
